In honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month, my adoption fee is WAIVED for the entire month of October! ❤Meet Boulderface, a 1-year-old XXL Bully mix with a head as big as his heart. This goofy guy came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about his past, but what we do know is that he's packed full of love, muscle, and personality.Boulderface may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he makes up for it with endless affection and an adorable "big doofus" charm. He absolutely loves people and believes personal space is optional. In fact, he's one of the biggest leaners you'll ever meet. If you're standing nearby, expect a giant bully-sized shadow pressed against your side. If you move, he's probably coming with you.Still very much a puppy at heart, Boulderface is learning the ropes. He already knows how to sit and usually comes when called, but he's still working on mastering those listening skills. With continued training, consistency, and patience, this lovable meathead is sure to keep making progress.Because of his size and strength, Boulderface is looking for a home with children over 8 years old who can comfortably handle a big, happy dog. He may enjoy a canine companion who can match his playful energy, but any meet-and-greets with resident dogs are recommended. Cats are definitely not his thing. Boulderface doesn't always realize just how big he is, and a feline friend would not appreciate his enthusiastic approach to life. The ideal home for Boulderface is one with someone willing to provide structure, guidance, and plenty of love. He needs a person who can occasionally put their foot down when this oversized puppy forgets his manners. In return, you'll get a loyal best friend, a professional cuddle expert, and enough love to fill an entire room.If you're looking for a giant goofball with a heart of gold and a face you'll never forget, Boulderface might just be your perfect match. ❤️Boulderface's adoption fee is $175, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! ACSKC Health Care for Each Adopted Pet Includes:Dogs: Preventatives for parasites, vaccines (Kennel Cough, Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip, behavioral assessment.Cats: Parasite treatment, FeLV/FIV testing, deworming for kittens, vaccines (Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip. What You’ll Take Home:Toys, treats, and food sampleRabies tag, microchip number, and medical recordsA “Pet Pal Packet” with feeding info, training tips, and guidance for helping your new pet adjust

We are an open-admission animal shelter, and welcome every animal in need that we can legally accept. As an open-admission shelter, we take in many animals who may not be immediate candidates for adoption. Whenever possible, our foster parents work with these animals to rehabilitate them and qualify them for adoption to good homes. There is no set limit to the length of time an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as we have space, and the pet appears to be able to maintain good physical and emotional health in our kennel environment (or foster home), the pet will remain in our program. Every animal, however long it remains in our adoption program, is guaranteed a clean, safe, comfortable space, nutritious food and fresh water, medical supervision and, when needed, care and supplies, as well as interaction with volunteers who groom, exercise, and socialize with them. We do our best to move young puppies and kittens and other special-needs animals into foster care, where they remain until they are ready for adoption. We also work with breed-specific groups to find homes for some animals, in order to maintain space within our own shelter. We do everything in our power to avoid the euthanasia of healthy animals, or of animals who can be rehabilitated or go to homes that will provide care for a lifetime. We are able to find new homes for the great majority of our pets and appreciate your continued support as we push towards a low-kill community. To reach this goal, we are working to create not a no-kill shelter, but a low-kill community where all adoptable animals are able to find forever loving homes. These are the steps we are taking to achieve that effect: Maintain a widespread effort to promote spaying and neutering of all companion animals Continually increase the number of shelter animals that are adopted to new homes through our programs. Encourage responsible pet ownership through public-awareness campaigns, humane education programs, and efforts to legally eliminate puppy mills and backyard breeders Supporting pet owners through training classes, counseling, and referrals to outside information sources The Humane Society of Kent County Maryland, Inc is a private, charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are not affiliated with any other animal-welfare organization, locally or nationally. We rely entirely on the income from our community and on donations from the public in order to keep our doors open. We invite you to become more involved by becoming a volunteer or a foster parent. See our Programs link for information on how to do this.
