❤️ Personality & Breed Information
Meet Grizzly, an adorable 4-month-old Australian Kelpie mix weighing approximately 15 pounds! This beautiful little girl is looking for a forever family ready to guide her through puppyhood and give her a lifetime of love, security, and companionship.
Grizzly is at an exciting age when puppies are discovering the world and developing their personalities. She has plenty of growing and learning ahead of her, making this a wonderful opportunity for a family to help shape her future.
About the Australian Kelpie Mix
Australian Kelpies are intelligent, athletic herding dogs originally bred to work with livestock. They are known for their loyalty, stamina, quick learning abilities, and enthusiasm for activity.
As a Kelpie mix, Grizzly may inherit several of these characteristics:
Intelligent and Trainable: Often quick to learn and responsive to consistent training.
Active and Athletic: May enjoy walks, outdoor adventures, and interactive games.
Loyal and Affectionate: Many develop close bonds with their families.
Curious and Alert: Naturally interested in exploring their surroundings.
Herding Instincts: May occasionally chase or attempt to herd moving animals or people.
Her individual temperament, adult size, and energy level will become clearer as she matures.
Grizzly's Ideal Home
Grizzly would be a promising match for an active household that enjoys spending time with its dog. Her future family should be prepared to provide regular exercise, mental stimulation, and opportunities to learn.
She is considered suitable for homes with other dogs and children, with proper introductions and supervision. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
As a growing puppy with working-breed heritage, Grizzly will benefit from a family committed to meeting her changing needs as she develops.
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
At four months old, Grizzly is at an important stage for learning basic household manners and building confidence.
Her adopter should be prepared to work on house training, leash walking, basic commands, appropriate chewing, and positive socialization. Rescue puppies may arrive with little or no formal training, so patience and consistency are essential.
Kelpie mixes often enjoy mental challenges. Puzzle toys, scent games, short training sessions, and interactive play can help keep Grizzly engaged.
Exercise should remain appropriate for her developing joints. Strenuous running and repetitive jumping should be avoided during puppyhood.
Because Grizzly has received only her first reported combination vaccine, she should avoid high-risk public dog areas until her veterinarian confirms she is adequately protected.
The 3-3-3 Rule
Every rescue dog adjusts at their own pace:
3 Days: Time to decompress and begin feeling safe.
3 Weeks: Time to learn household routines and build confidence.
3 Months: Time to develop trust and feel more comfortable with the family.
These are flexible guidelines. A predictable routine and positive reinforcement will help Grizzly adjust successfully.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Grizzly has received her first combination puppy vaccination and deworming treatment.
Her puppy vaccination series is not yet complete. Her adopter will need to arrange additional vaccinations and boosters according to veterinary recommendations, along with routine parasite prevention.
Her spay status has not been confirmed. If she has not been spayed, her adopter must follow the rescue's sterilization requirements and veterinary guidance.
Kelpie Mix Health Considerations
Australian Kelpies may have inherited predispositions to certain conditions, including hip dysplasia and hereditary eye disorders. These are general breed considerations, not diagnosed conditions in Grizzly.
Maintaining a healthy weight, providing appropriate exercise, and scheduling routine veterinary examinations will support her development.
Grizzly will also need balanced puppy nutrition, grooming, dental care, nail trimming, and a safe environment.
As she grows, her family should be prepared for the possibility of a highly active adult dog who needs regular physical activity and mental enrichment.
Adopting Grizzly is a lifelong commitment to her health, training, happiness, and well-being.
Adoption Information
Ready to welcome Grizzly into your family?
Apply to Adopt:
Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs and helping them find safe, loving forever homes.
We coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States, subject to age, vaccination status, and veterinary clearance.
Because Grizzly is still a puppy, her adopter must complete her vaccination schedule and follow the rescue's spay requirements. A refundable spay deposit may apply if she is adopted before sterilization.
Grizzly is a beautiful little girl with a whole lifetime of love and adventures ahead of her. At just four months old, she deserves a family who will help her learn, grow, and become the wonderful companion she has the potential to be. Could you be the one to give Grizzly her happily ever after? ❤️
