Meet Sonny, the 3 year old female Alaskan Klee Kai. Sonny came to the Shelter after her guardian could no longer care for them. She has lived with other dogs in her most recent home and then cats in a prior home â doing well with both. Sonny has also been around children ages 8 to 10 years old. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Any feline friends in the home should be introduced in a slow, thoughtful manner. Sonny prefers to be with her people more often than not. A home where she is left home alone a minimal amount of time would be best for her. She is house trained but will occasionally have accidents when left home alone too long. On Saturday, October 31st, the Shelter is celebrating Halloween through an âAdopt Your Booâ special. This dogâs adoption fee is reduced to $31.The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
