About Chopper’s Breed:
Our best guess is that Chopper is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mixed breed. Chihuahua/Dachshund mixes, often affectionately called "Chiweenies," are known for their loyal, loving personalities and big-dog confidence in a small package. They often combine the Chihuahua's devotion to their people with the Dachshund's playful, curious nature, creating a companion who loves both adventure and cuddle time. Chiweenies tend to form strong bonds with their families and are happiest when included in daily activities.
Their ideal home is one that provides plenty of companionship, gentle guidance, and regular opportunities for exercise and exploration. Many Chihuahua/Dachshund mixes enjoy daily walks, time spent outdoors, and cozy evenings snuggled up with their favorite people. They often thrive in homes that appreciate their affectionate nature and can provide a balance of activity, routine, and lots of love.
What to Love about Chopper:
Chopper is the definition of sweet and gentle. At 3 years old and 11 pounds, this handsome long-haired Chihuahua/Dachshund mix has a loving, sensitive soul and is happiest when he's close to his favorite people. Whether he's curled up in your lap, snuggled beside you on the couch, or soaking up pets and attention, Chopper's favorite place is wherever you are! He can be a little shy when meeting new people and may startle at loud noises or unfamiliar situations, but once he realizes he's safe, his happy, affectionate personality shines through.
Chopper has excellent house manners and is both potty trained and crate trained. Like some male dogs, he occasionally struggles with marking, but with consistency, positive reinforcement, and a predictable routine, he continues to make great progress. He's trustworthy when left out of his crate while you're away and is an easy, low-maintenance companion around the house.
One of Chopper's favorite things in the world is spending time outdoors. He loves exploring the yard, going for daily walks, and enjoying the fresh air, which is why a securely fenced yard is a must for him. He has a wonderful medium energy level, enjoying activity without being overly demanding. A few walks, some outdoor playtime, and plenty of cuddle sessions are all it takes to make this boy happy!
Chopper gets along beautifully with other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for a resident pup, but he'd also be perfectly content as your one-and-only furry friend. He's also cat-friendly and currently lives peacefully with cats in his foster home. Due to his sensitive nature and tendency to startle easily, he would do best in a home with children ages 10 and older who can respect his need for a calm environment.
This lovable little guy is ready to leave his past behind and find a forever family of his own. If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who loves walks, enjoys the outdoors, and has endless love to give, Chopper may be the perfect addition to your family. He's ready to spend his days by your side and shower you with all the love his big heart has to offer!
