Meet Deacon - A thoughtful little sweetheart with a playful side!!
Deacon currently with one of our partner rescues in Mississippi awaiting a foster or adopter to bring him to NJ.
Deacon is a thoughtful little gentleman with a sweet personality and a clever mind! While some puppies are right in the middle of all the action, Deacon prefers to take a step back and observe what's going on around him. He's an observer, taking it all in before deciding whether he'd like to join the fun. There's something pretty special about a puppy who knows how to pause and watch the world go by!
Don't let his thoughtful nature fool you, though. Deacon is playful, loves his toys, and has a gentle, even-tempered disposition. He's also one smart boy! Food motivated and eager to please, he's already learned several commands, including sit, move, yes, and no. He even knows to sit and wait for permission before diving into his meals. With his willingness to learn, continued training should be a rewarding experience for both Deacon and his new family.
Currently weighing about 20–25 pounds, Deacon is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog of approximately 50–60 pounds. He has a moderate energy level and should enjoy a nice balance of playtime, exercise, and relaxing with his people.
Deacon is friendly with new people, gets along with other dogs, and is good with children. He isn't house-trained yet, so his new family should be prepared to help him master those puppy basics with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
If you're looking for a gentle, intelligent companion with a playful side and a thoughtful approach to life, Deacon could be just the boy for you. He's ready to leave the observing behind and start making memories with a family of his very own!
Come meet Deacon and let him quietly steal your heart!
Deacon is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Deacon has been neutered and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $600.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
