[BLUE]Background: Brought in stray by finder on 8/15/26. Finder noted that dog is bx00#28;so sweetbx00#29; and that dog was scared to get in the car, friendly and calm/relaxed while in the car. Dog allowed finder to harness her and pick her up. Was relaxed around children. Staff noted dog was bx00#28;Dog was nervous and resisted intake.bx00#29; Dog growled at another dog walking in the hall and lunged and snapped at dogs in kennels. Given Blue dot on intake. Second time meeting handler for evaluation on 8/20/26.O: Dog was standing mid-kennel. Came to the front with soft wagging tail. Came forward to sniff the leash, backed away from leashing. Came forward again as handler spoke to her. Soft face and soft, low wagging tail, weight back. Rested head in hands for pets around chin. Leashed while petting. Walked out into the ward, darted around with lowered/crouched body language and low tail, distancing herself from barking dog in neighboring kennel. Zig zag walking on leash, brushed against handlerbx00#25;s legs and darted to the end of the leash in different directions. Off leash in the yard, dog walked and sniffed. Crouched, lowered her body and leaned back as she sniffed unfamiliar objects. Handler crouched offered open hands, and spoke with soft voice. Dog approached with soft, low wagging tail, soft face, pricked ears, neutral posture with slightly lowered head. Placed head into handlerbx00#25;s hands for pets. Turned body against handler and leaned into pets all over head, neck, chest, shoulders, back, with soft face relaxed musculature. Sat when asked. Took treats with a soft mouth. After several minutes of interacting for pets and treats, taken gently, dog shook off. Approached handler and play bowed. Handler tapped their feet in response. Dog skittered around and offered several play bows at handler. Became playful, approaching handler several times, play bowing, then running around the yard. Picked up a tossed squeaky toy and ran around the yard. Walked back to the kennel on leash, stiff musculature, darted to the end of the leash in different directions, making contact with handlers legs several times. Dog walked ahead of handler into kennel. Removed slip leash by hand while petting dog around the neck and head.B A: Sensitive and unsure presentation initially, but warms up with time. Affiliative and approaches readily for pets/handling once she is comfortable. Shows enjoyment with pets. Presents as medium energy. Walks erratically on leash with moderate pulling and some darting. Is playful and engages in handler directed play with or without toys. Knows sit. Blue for volunteer handling d/t leash avoidance, very fearful and erratic walking on leash. Consider for Yellow if recommended by Crew volunteers.B P: Make available for adoption by appointment. Recommend slow and structured introduction to strangers and new environments. Dog may require additional time to decompress after adoption. Adopters should continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach.
