[YELLOW]Background: Brought in stray by finder on 8/22/26 along with another dog.B Finder reported that they caught the dog by walking up to it and the dog was calm/relaxed in the car. Given Blue dot on intake. Intake staff noted dog was nervous and resisted intake. First time handling dog for evaluation on 8/27/26.O: In kennel dog was standing near the front of the kennel. Soft face, soft wagging tail. Hesistated coming out of the kennel but stepped forward and allowed slow leashing. Walked well on leash down the hallway. Stopped to greet a familiar handler with soft, wiggly body language and fast wagging tail. Dropped leash in the yard. Dog urinated then walked and sniffed. Engaged with handler when handler spoke to him. Leaned into pets all over head, neck, chest, shoulders, back, with soft face, relaxed musculature, and loose wagging tail. Stepped closer for more pets after consent check. Did not respond to verbal cues or lures for sit. Soft mouth taking treats. Backed away from hand held overhead. Followed tossed toys and balls. Did not pick up. Relaxed musculature and soft face as he jogged around the yard with handler. Walked well on loose leash, often looking up at handler. Paused at kennel threshold. Followed handler inside when handler crouched and spoke to him. Removed slip leash by hand without issue.A: Sensitive, affiliative young dog. Presents as low to medium energy. Very attentive to handler and shows enjoyment with pets. Treat motivated. Showed minimal interest in toys at this time. Walks well on loose leash. Possibly house trained (eliminates on entering the yard). Does not appear to know any commands. Yellow for volunteer handling, no issues leashing, walking, handling, returning to kennel, but dog can be timid on first meeting and somewhat leash avoidant coming out of the kennel. Crew volunteer and whiteboard notes are consistent with staff notes.P: Make available for adoption. Adopters should continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children. Dog is sensitive and may be timid in new environments which may make a home with young children less suitable.[2026-08-28 02:49:00.000]
