[YELLOW]Background: Returned adoption after 45 days. Returned after jumping up and knocking down one of the adults in the home. See owner surrender notes for details. Dog was previously at OAS for approximately one month. Successfully attended offsite events and field trips. Given blue dot on intake only for owner surrender notes that dog had jumped and knocked down a person. Was easy to handle for all intake procedures. O: Dog was sitting at the front of the kennel leaning against the door. Stood up with wide, soft tail wags and soft face. Easy to leash. Walked ahead of handler with mostly loose leash down the hallway, high soft wagging tail. Dropped leash in the yard. Handler crouched. Dog approached handler and accepted pets around chin, then sat to lean against handler. Leaned into pets all over head, neck, chest, shoulders, back, with soft face relaxed musculature and soft high wagging tail. Bounced around handler, offering play bows and skittered around when handler responded with playful body language. Dog became vocal, relaxed open mouth growling, jumping around and then jumped and bounced off handler with front paws. Went back down to play bow and bounced around continuing to vocalize. Settled when handler stopped playing and approached handler for pets. Took treats with a soft mouth. Walked with moderate pulling back to kennel. Dog followed handler into kennel. Removed slip leash by hand while petting dog around the neck and head. Volunteers report that dog chases toys but does not pick up and appears to prefer handler-directed play. A: Affiliative and playful young dog. Approaches readily for pets/handling. Shows enjoyment with pets. High energy. Walks well on leash. Has done well on field trips with volunteers. Volunteers report that he knows sit, down, and touch.B Treat motivated. Shows little interest in toys. Yellow for volunteer handling d/t some jumping at handler with moderate body contact. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers. B P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children, however, occasional high contact jumping makes a home with young children less suitable. Potential adopters should be familiar with the characteristics of Husky breed dogs (require regular grooming, tendency to be vocal, jump / dig under fences, potential for prey drive) and be prepared to provide sufficient exercise and enrichment.[2026-08-28 16:39:00.000]
