[YELLOW]Background: Brought in stray by finder on 9/3/26. Finder had dog in their home for 2 days with no issues. Noted that dog jumped right in the car and was calm/relaxed and friendly while riding in the car. Given Yellow dot on intake. Dog tolerated all handling for intake procedures, including vaccines. Handling evaluation on 9/4/26.B O: Clean kennel. At the front of the kennel with neutral posture, low tail. Slightly leash avoidant, but stepped out into the loop when given space. Moderate to hard pulling with some pacing and changing direction while walking on leash. Urinated and defecated immediately on entering the yard. Dropped leash in the yard. Dog paced the perimeter of the yard, drooling and stress panting, looking out of the yard. Looked toward squeaky toy with pricked ears and followed tossed toy to sniff but did not pick up. Soft wagging tail when initially pet around the head and neck. Neutral and tolerant of handling over the back, chest, legs, belly. Allowed teeth check (approximately 4 years old). Sat when asked. Did not take offered treats. On leash returning to the building, dog pulled back and darted around on leash. Recovered quickly when leash pressure was decreased and continued walking with verbal encouragement. Stalled at ward door and at kennel threshold. Followed handler into kennel. Soft face and soft wagging tail with handling around neck and head while removing slip leash by hand.B Volunteer notes to date are consistent with handling evaluation. During volunteer handling, dog appeared to be more comfortable walking on leash, with no darting around noted.A: Difficult to assess personality as dog appears to be somewhat shut down and owner/exit searching. Presents as independent and low energy, but shows some affiliation and enjoyment with pets on initial meeting. Possibly house trained (eliminates immediately in the yard). Does not show treat motivation at this time. Shows some interest in toys, but has not played. Yellow for volunteer handling: dog is owner/exit searching and may dart on leash. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers.B P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may do with children. Potential adopters should be familiar with the characteristics of the Husky breed (require regular grooming, tendency to be vocal, jump / dig under fences, potential for prey drive), and be prepared to provide sufficient exercise and enrichment.[2026-09-06 12:44:00.000]
