Meet Mazzy! Mazzy is a 6-month-old Lab/Heeler mix who currently weighs about 28 pounds and is expected to be around 40 pounds full grown. This sweet, curious girl is quick to make friends—both human and canine—and she absolutely loves being part of the action!Mazzy is an adventurous little pup who enjoys walks, hikes, sniffing around, playing with other dogs, lounging with her chew toys, and, of course, puppy naps. She’s especially talented at sniffing out forgotten treats from other hikers, as if she’s been hired for the job! She is very treat-motivated and a fast learner. Mazzy already knows how to sit, lay down, and shake, and she loves puzzle toys and learning new commands. She’s doing well with her house training and walks nicely on a leash. Like any puppy, she’s still working on her manners and learning what’s expected of her, but she is eager to please and picks things up quickly.Mazzy is mostly quiet and does well entertaining herself when indoors. Her foster family currently gives her limited access to the kitchen, where she happily works on her chew toys—especially important right now because she’s teething! At bedtime, she may whine for a few minutes before settling down for the night. One of Mazzy’s favorite things in the world is other dogs. She gets along wonderfully with her foster dog and has made friends with dogs she’s met while out on hikes. She’s also doing well with the two cats in her foster home and is curious and friendly with them. She has not yet met young children, so that introduction would need to be taken thoughtfully.Mazzy has come a long way with people, too. When she first arrived, she was a little hesitant about being petted, but after just a couple of days she learned that people can be trusted—and that pets are pretty wonderful! Now she happily gives out plenty of kisses. She does have one important puppy habit: she LOVES her food. She tends to gobble up her own meal and then makes a beeline for her foster brother’s bowl to check for leftovers. An empty bowl apparently still needs a thorough inspection!Mazzy would love an active home with a fenced yard, ideally with people who enjoy walks, hikes, playtime, and giving a young dog plenty of opportunities to learn and explore. She would also be happy having a canine companion. Her new family should be prepared for the normal patience and consistency that comes with the puppy stage, but Mazzy makes that investment easy—she’s smart, affectionate, treat-motivated, and eager to please. If you’re looking for a fun-loving puppy who is ready to grow alongside her forever family, Mazzy may be your girl! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200.
