Mae is sweet, silly, and social—she is dainty, but fast! We rescued this awesome kitty from a hill country property where she was abandoned, starving, and by all appearances had only known a rough life outdoors, but Mae showed us that she is an indoor kitty, after all! She loves being held or snuggling next to you during her grooming regimen, playing with catnip toys, or interacting with you and a wand toy. Whatever you’re doing, Mae wants to know more about it—and discover how she may assist you!
This kitty is energetic and playful—she spends most of her time climbing and chasing. Mae loves automatic toys; moving objects (but not lasers) capture her attention and satisfy her hunting instincts. She also likes bouncy toys, catnip, boxes, packing paper—anything she can explore. When ready to recharge, Mae looks for a sunny window. Her clear favorite is a heated bed (pictured below), but a scratcher bowl works for her too.
She permits nail-clipping without fuss, even though she doesn’t like her paws to be touched otherwise. Mae goes into a carrier easily, and uses scratchers like a champ – especially vertical ones. Her litterbox manners are perfect, as if she’s been an indoor kitty all her life! Her food preferences are all of them: wet and dry food, plus occasional treats—even your plate, if you’re not watching! She likes to eat when others are present, in a social setting, though she assumes all food available is for her.
Mae has the confidence to be the only pet in the household, though she gets along with other cats. While she shared a litterbox with another kitty, she never cuddled or groomed them, nor showed affection or interest. She lived with large dogs: she knows they exist, though she didn’t interact with them. She would likely be good with children, as long as they are considerate of her space and treat her gently.
