Tootsie Roll is an adorable Terrier/Retriever mix weighing approximately 12 pounds. He's a friendly young puppy who's ready to find a family to love and grow up with.
At six months old, Tootsie Roll is at that fun in-between stage where he's no longer a tiny baby, but he's still very much a puppy. He has plenty of learning, exploring, playing, and growing ahead of him. His personality will continue to develop as he matures, and his future family will have the wonderful opportunity to help shape the adult dog he becomes.
Tootsie Roll is good with other dogs and children, while his compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
With a Terrier/Retriever mix, Tootsie Roll may inherit a fun combination of traits. Retrievers are often social, affectionate, intelligent, playful, and people-oriented, while Terriers may bring curiosity, confidence, energy, and plenty of personality. Every mixed-breed dog is an individual, but Tootsie Roll's friendly nature is already shining through.

At six months old, Tootsie Roll is still learning about the world and what is expected of him.
Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so his adopter should be prepared to continue working on:
House training as needed

Appropriate chewing
Calm greetings
Household boundaries
Positive socialization
Building confidence
Learning when it's time to settle and relax
Puppies thrive with positive reinforcement, repetition, structure, and patience. Training should be a normal part of everyday life and an opportunity for Tootsie Roll and his family to build a strong relationship.

These are general guidelines rather than strict deadlines. Every dog adjusts differently, and Tootsie Roll should be given the time he needs.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Tootsie Roll's vaccinations are currently up to date for his age, and his neuter is pending until the appropriate age.
Because he's still a puppy, his adopter should provide continued veterinary care and review his records with their veterinarian to determine when any remaining vaccinations or boosters are due and when neutering should be completed.
His ongoing care should include routine wellness examinations, parasite prevention, dental care, quality puppy nutrition, healthy growth monitoring, grooming and nail care, appropriate exercise, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary.
Because Tootsie Roll is still developing physically, exercise should remain age appropriate, avoiding excessive repetitive jumping or strenuous forced exercise while his body is growing.
