Meet Sugar! Sugar is an 8-year-old Pug/Chihuahua mix weighing about 25 pounds, and she's a little sweetheart who just needs someone willing to let her blossom at her own pace. Sugar is a shy girl who takes time to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, she'll become your little shadow and a loyal companion.Sugar is happiest lounging on the couch with her favorite people. She's a low-energy girl who doesn't ask for much beyond a cozy spot, some companionship, and plenty of snuggles. She's also a very well-mannered houseguest, house-trained, and crate-trained (although she'd much rather be out enjoying your company!).Sugar gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is also fine with cats, whom she mostly ignores. She can be startled by unfamiliar noises and may bark at visitors, but she'll generally keep her distance until she feels comfortable. Because of her timid nature, a home with young children probably isn't the best fit.One thing to know about Sugar is that the outside world can be intimidating. She's nervous on a leash and will need a patient adopter willing to help her build confidence through gentle, positive experiences. She's treat-motivated, which should help with continued training and encouragement.Sugar has had a big change in her life after spending four years in a home, and she's understandably feeling a little uncertain. But even when she's scared, she continues to show that she wants to trust people. Once she does, you'll discover her adorable little prance when she's excited and her sweet habit of gently reaching out with a paw when you stop petting her, as if to say, "Excuse me, I'm not finished!"Sugar is looking for a quiet, mellow home with a patient person who understands that love and trust sometimes take a little time. In return, she'll give you a devoted little shadow and a whole lot of love. ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200.
