❤️ Personality & Breed Information
Taquito is an adorable two-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing only about 7 pounds. He's a tiny little guy with a sweet personality who is ready to find a family to call his own.
Taquito may be small, but little dogs can bring an incredible amount of companionship into a home. He's at a wonderful age—past the earliest puppy stage but still a young adult with many years ahead of him.
As a Chihuahua mix, Taquito may share many of the qualities associated with the breed. Chihuahuas are known for being intelligent, alert, affectionate, and deeply devoted to their people. They often form strong bonds with their families and enjoy being included in everyday life.
Because Taquito is such a small dog, his family should always be mindful of his size. He should be handled gently and protected from situations where he could accidentally be injured by rough play, large dogs, or unsafe jumps.
Taquito would thrive with a family that provides:
Plenty of love and companionship
Daily walks appropriate for his size
Playtime and interactive toys
Positive-reinforcement training
Mental stimulation and enrichment
Consistent household routines
A warm, comfortable place to rest
Safe handling appropriate for a very small dog
A secure indoor home where he's part of the family
A lifelong commitment
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Although Taquito is already two years old, every rescue dog needs time to adjust to a new environment.
His adopter should be prepared to continue reinforcing house training, leash manners, basic commands, and household routines as needed. Small dogs benefit from the same consistent training and boundaries as larger dogs.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to understand his new household routine
3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home
Patience and positive reinforcement will help Taquito understand his new environment and develop a strong bond with his family.
At only seven pounds, safety is especially important. Taquito should be securely leashed or contained when outside, and his family should make sure doors, gates, fences, and other potential escape areas are secure.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Taquito is already neutered and up to date on his vaccinations, giving him a great start toward a healthy future.
His adopter should continue providing:
Routine veterinary wellness examinations
Recommended vaccination boosters
Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention
Routine dental examinations and dental care
Quality nutrition appropriate for his size
Healthy weight management
Regular age-appropriate exercise
Mental stimulation and enrichment
Continued positive-reinforcement training
Veterinary treatment whenever illness or injury occurs
A safe and comfortable indoor home
Dental care can be particularly important for small breeds such as Chihuahuas, so regular dental monitoring and good at-home care should be part of Taquito's lifelong routine.
