Winter is 14 pounds of scruffy puppy happiness with an adorable little face, a wonderfully tousled coat, and so much life ahead of her.
Unfortunately, her journey to rescue began with a heartbreaking moment.
Winter was dropped off from a car outside a taco stand in Mexico. The people who had been responsible for her stopped, left this little puppy behind, said goodbye to her, and then drove away.
At such a young age, Winter suddenly found herself without the people and home she had known.
Thankfully, that moment doesn't get to define the rest of her life.
Winter is now getting the opportunity to find something much better—a family that will make a real commitment to her and give her the security of knowing that this time, she's home for good.
Despite everything, Winter is a happy young girl with a playful spirit. At almost eight months old, she's still very much a puppy—curious about the world, ready to learn, and excited to experience life alongside her future family.
As a Jack Russell Terrier Mix, Winter may share many of the traits these little dogs are known for. Jack Russells tend to be bright, lively, curious, playful, energetic, and incredibly entertaining companions. They're small dogs with big personalities and often love having something to do.
Winter's future family should be prepared to give her healthy outlets for that Terrier energy through walks, games, training, toys, sniffing and exploring, and plenty of interaction with her people.
She would thrive with a family that provides:

Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Born January 7, 2026, Winter is still a young dog with plenty to learn.
Her adopter should be prepared to continue working on basic commands, leash manners, household routines, boundaries, and house training as needed. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, and even skills they already know may need reinforcement in an unfamiliar environment.
Jack Russell mixes are often very intelligent, and that intelligence needs an outlet. Short positive training sessions, food puzzles, interactive toys, sniffing games, and other enrichment can be just as important as physical exercise.
Please also remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to understand her new household routine
3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home
Winter has already experienced the confusion of being left behind. Her next family should give her the patience and consistency she needs to understand that she's finally safe.
