❤️ Personality & Breed Information
Rocky is a special Jack Russell Terrier / Poodle mix weighing approximately 26 pounds. This handsome boy may have only three legs, but he certainly isn't missing any love to give.
Rocky is described as incredibly loving and noble, with a gentle and sweet nature. He's friendly with other dogs and good with children, making him a wonderful candidate for many different types of families.
Being a three-legged dog doesn't mean Rocky can't enjoy a happy, active, and fulfilling life. Many tripod dogs adapt remarkably well and enjoy walks, exploring, playtime, and everyday family activities. His family simply needs to be thoughtful about his individual mobility and physical needs.
Rocky's Jack Russell Terrier and Poodle heritage makes for a fun combination. Both breeds are known for being intelligent and highly trainable. Jack Russells tend to be lively, curious, playful, and adventurous, while Poodles are often affectionate, people-oriented, clever, and eager to learn.
Rocky will benefit from activities that engage both his mind and body, while keeping his exercise appropriate for a three-legged dog.
His ideal family will provide:
Plenty of love and human companionship
Daily exercise appropriate for his mobility
Mental stimulation and interactive toys
Positive-reinforcement training
Continued socialization
Comfortable places to rest
A safe environment with good traction
Regular grooming and coat maintenance
Healthy weight management
A secure indoor home where he's part of the family
A lifelong commitment
Most importantly, Rocky needs someone who sees the wonderful dog he is—not the leg he doesn't have.
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Rocky's future family should allow him time to become comfortable with his new surroundings and learn the household routine.
Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be prepared to continue working on house training, leash manners, basic commands, boundaries, and household routines as needed.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to understand his new household routine
3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home
Because Rocky has three legs, his adopter should also pay attention to his physical comfort. Non-slip flooring, maintaining a lean and healthy weight, limiting unnecessary jumping, and providing appropriate exercise can help reduce excess stress on his remaining limbs and joints.
Rocky doesn't need to be treated as fragile. He simply needs a family willing to understand his body and help him stay comfortable and active.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Rocky is already neutered and vaccinated.
Because tripod dogs place additional demands on their remaining limbs, maintaining Rocky at a healthy weight will be particularly important throughout his life.
His future family should provide:
Routine veterinary wellness examinations
Recommended vaccinations and boosters
Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention
Routine dental care
Regular brushing and professional grooming as needed
Quality nutrition and healthy weight management
Exercise appropriate for his mobility
Monitoring of his remaining legs, joints, and overall movement
Mental stimulation and enrichment
Continued positive-reinforcement training
Veterinary treatment whenever illness or injury occurs
A safe and comfortable indoor home
If Rocky ever develops changes in his movement, activity level, or comfort, his family should have him evaluated by a veterinarian rather than assuming the change is simply related to being a tripod.

Rocky may walk through life on three paws, but he has every bit as much love, personality, and joy to give as any other dog. He's loving, gentle, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and ready for someone to see just how special he is. Rocky isn't looking for sympathy—he's looking for his family. ❤️
